The United Kingdom Pavilion was known for its state-of-the-art recycling and sustainable energies used, in particular, the waterfall 'waterwall' that kept the exterior of the Pavilion cool at all times. This was used in conjunction with solar panel roof cells, and blinds that changed according to the angle of the sun.
The flag of the United Kingdom featured behind the waterwall, above the main entrance of the Pavilion.
